The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has postponed the entry test scheduled for today (Thursday) for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) scholarships due to the deteriorating law and order situation in Kurram. A two-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Wiqar Ahmed, heard the petition related to the HEC scholarship entry test. The petition was filed by students from Kurram.
During the hearing, the petitioners’ counsel, Inayatullah Advocate, informed the court that the law and order situation in Kurram was highly unstable. He stated that the entry test for scholarships was scheduled for December 26, and 100 scholarships were allocated for students from merged districts and Balochistan.
However, he requested the test venue to be relocated to Sadda and the exam to be postponed due to the tense situation in Kurram. The court postponed the exam in Kurram and issued notices to the Educational Testing Authority and directed it to submit a response by the next hearing. The court ordered responsible HEC officials to appear in person at the next hearing and adjourned the proceedings until December 31.
