The chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed expressed his optimism over the potential of new graduates.
He was while speaking as the chief guest at the transcript distribution ceremony and alumni reunion of the University of Education Attock Campus on Wednesday. Each graduate was called to the stage to receive their transcripts, symbolising the culmination of their academic journey.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said that he was optimistic about the quality of education imparted to the graduates will bring considerable prosperity to the country.
In his address, he highlighted the societal need for solution-oriented research on areas of critical importance to fellow countrymen, such as disaster management, health and wellbeing, and water and sanitation.
He also expressed his optimism that the higher education institutions would reform and lead the renaissance of growth and development in the country.
The HEC chairman also shed light on the remarkable evolution of universities in Pakistan over the past two decades. He said that the number of universities as well as the quality of research have witnessed a substantial increase in the last two decades.
He highlighted a substantial transformation in the realm of research, with the current year boasting 28,967 publications in impact factor Journals. He said that, owing to these factors and many other initiatives, a number of Pakistani universities are now featured in the world and Asian rankings.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor UE Prof Dr Alam Saeed, congratulated the graduates and their parents and stressed the need for the improvement of their knowledge and to keep themselves in touch with the latest technology. The principal of the UE Attock campus, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid Zia, presented an annual report on this occasion.
