WIT H the surge in Covid numbers, especially in Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad, the government and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have asked all universities in these cities to go for online education and to have no on-campus interaction.
The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) seems to have ideas different from those of the policymakers as it has announced a two-week on-campus workshop for a certain batch of students from April 5 onward. Ironically, AIOU, even in normal times, happens to be a platform for Distant Learning.
On behalf of the vulnerable students, I urge the relevant authorities to either postpone the workshop or conduct it via the university`s Learning Management System which is meant for that very purpose.
